SAAC Meeting Minutes- 2/10/08

• Student-Athlete Etiquette Dinner
• If you signed up to attend the etiquette dinner, remember that it is February 11, 2008 at 6:30pm in the Eastside Conference Room of Appleton Arena.
• National Women and Sports Day
• We need workers for the women’s basketball game on February 15th to give handouts to the young kids as they walk into the game. Let Meg know if you are interested.
• We are also beginning our baby drive that day and it would be great if teams could chip in diapers or formula to help out this cause.
• Think Pink! And Pink at the Rink!
• We will be celebrating these events on Saturday February 16 th at the Women’s Basketball game (2pm) and the Women’s Hockey game (4pm).
• We need volunteers to help out working before the game and at half-time. Lilah Brown has volunteered and we need at least one more person. If you are interested, contact either Meg or Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach Elisa Haggarty.
• NCAA Diversity Workshops
• On Monday February 25 th at 5pm in either the Winston Room or Eben Holden there will be a diversity workshop. One first-year student and one captain/upperclassman leader will be expected to attend. If there is anyone else that would like to attend, let Meg or Austin know.
• Study Lounge
• Austin has been in the process of talking to the University and the athletic director. Now we will have to wait a response from the University about puttin in a study lounge in Augbury.
• Committee for Hazing Code of Conduct
• At the last meeting we decided that it would be a good idea to develop a hazing code of conduct in order to avoid any dangerous situations. If you are interested in being on the committee to develop this, then let Meg or Austin know.
• Missed Class for Games
• Austin will be talking to Dr. Lehr about the difficulties that some students have been having with absences due to athletic games. If you or your teammates have had trouble because your absences for athletic events have been unexcused, talk to Austin about it so he will have more information to discuss with Dr. Lehr. Also, if you have ideas about how to resolve this issue let Austin know.
• Church and Community Program
• Isaac will be e-mailing everyone about this soon. Fall teams that have not gone should expect to be scheduled for this spring.
• Elections
• Since there were not many people at the meeting, we will be holding elections at our next meeting, February 24 th. If you are interested in running for president, vice-president or secretary e-mail Meg about what position you would be interested in.
