Team Updates
- Church and Community Programs
- Once a week, one athletic team will go to the Food Bank across from movie theatre and help Shari Wilcox deliver and sort food. It only takes 3-4 people and about ½ hour.
- We will hopefully be starting the program the week after mid-semester break.
- We will be scheduling spring teams that are out of season to go and if any team would prefer to go sooner than later, they should let one of the SAAC chairs know.
- Dodgeball Tournament
- This SAAC sponsored event will be held in early December in Leithead fieldhouse. We will need 5-10 people to work it.
- This year it will be FYP cup eligible so that should encourage even more participation.
- This will also be a big student-athlete recruiting weekend so it is an activity that we can bring our recruits to.
- We will talk more about this as we get closer to the date.
- Hazing Speaker
- On November 15 th, there will be a speaker coming to talk to our campus about hazing. It will be help in Gullick Theatre at 7:00 geared towards student-athletes and 9:00 geared toward Greek Life.
- As the date gets closer, this is an important event to promote with your teams, especially freshmen and sophomores, who may not have attended an event on hazing yet.
- Clean-Up Day
- On October 28 th and 29 th, student-athletes will be going into the community and helping residents with outdoor chores they may have difficulty with. We will be finding out exactly what types of things need to be done around town so that we will be able to send groups to specific areas.
- This is a really important event because it will promote both St. Lawrence and the athletic program
- Teams can participate on either the Sunday or Monday, depending on your practice schedule and we will be sending out more information about meeting places and times shortly.
- Academic Lounge in Augsbury
- The idea was raised about whether an academic lounge in the athletic complex would be helpful to student-athletes, who already spend so much time in the building between practices.
- The room would have chairs, couches and hopefully eventually some computers if it was successful.
- It would be an academic location, not a hang-out area for students
- We need to know if this is something that teams would actually be interested. There was interest at the meeting, but SAAC reps need to go back and talk to their teams to see if this is something that we would all use. After talking to your teams, let either one of the chairs or Austin Weakfall (aweakfall@stlawu.edu) know what your team’s thoughts are.
- SAAC Logo
- Isaac needs to present a logo for the Liberty League SAAC, so if anyone has any ideas, let him know.
- SAAC announcements are now also going to be posted on the T.V.s in the athletic complex.
