SAAC MEETING MINUTES

  1. Community Clean-Up Day
    1. Saturday Oct. 27 th: We are going to be doing the clean-up day in conjunction with a campus-wide community clean up day organized by Anne Townsend.
    2. By Wednesday ( 10/24/07) we need to know what teams can participate and what members from your team will be able to go. Also include a time-slot in between 9am-3pm that you would be willing to work. You can reply to one of the officers or send an e-mail to Meg (mconnolly@stlawu.edu) or Austin (aweakfall@stlawu.edu).
  2. Church and Community Program
    1. The women’s basketball team will be going this week and we will be assigning teams for the following weeks.
  3. Hockey Games
    1. We have gotten dates from Cindy Atkins and will be trying to set up working the concession for the men’s hockey games on December 1, January 25 & 26 and February 8 & 9.
    2. There was also a suggestion for doing a 50/50 raffle at one of the games.
  4. Dodgeball Tournament
    1. This will be occurring on December 8 at 9 pm.
    2. We will need 10 people to work the event in 3 shifts so each person won’t have to work for too long.
    3. We will discuss this more as we get closer to the event.
  5. Ideas for activities next semester
    1. We are working with Student Life to come up with an event to sponsor for next semester. Suggested ideas were a volleyball tournament, kickball, broomball, flaf football and ultimate frisbee.
  6. Student Life Alcohol Policy
    1. Student life and the athletic administrators are working together to discuss the alcohol policy. Margie Strait asked for a SAAC representative to sit in on the committee.
    2. Katie Palmer and Alyssa Pirinelli volunteered.
  7. Hazing speaker
    1. Travis Apgar will be coming to speak at our campus about hazing on November 5 th in Gullick Theatre. There will be a 7pm speech geared towards student-athletes.
  8. SAAC Logo
    1. Lyndsay Bisaccio and Meg Connolly will be attending the Liberty League Conference next weekend at Hamilton and presenting a SAAC Liberty League logo. We voted at the SAAC meeting for which logo to present.
  9. Student-Athlete Lounge
    1. We need SAAC representatives to ask their teams about their interest in an academic lounge in Augsbury. Austin is presenting this idea on Wednesday so team representatives need to e-mail him (aweakfall@stlawu.edu) by Tuesday night at 9pm to let him know if their teams are interested in this idea.
