SAAC Meeting Minutes – January 27, 2008

• Hockey Concessions
• The Men’s Crew and Women’s XC teams worked this past weekend. Volleyball will be working February 8 th and Golf will be working February 9 th. Meg will send out reminders to the team representatives, but please check with your teams now to make sure that you will be able to get at least 3 people to help out.
• National Girls and Women Sports Day : Officially February 6 th
• We will be celebrating this February 15 th in Burkman Gymnasium at the Women’s B-Ball game. All SLU female athletes and Section X female athletes will come out and show support for women’s athletics. The day will be recognized at half-time.
• We will need 4 volunteers to work the night and greet the kids when they come.
• This is also the weekend that our women’s hockey teams will be wearing pink jerseys that will be raffled off to support cancer research.
• Baby Drive
• This will start on February 15 th as well. We will be collecting diapers and formula and there will be drop boxes around campus in the Student Center and Augsbury. Each team should try to get together and donate some items.
• NCAA Diversity Workshops
• On February 25 th at 5pm there will be a session for first year students and captains. It will be held in either the Winston Room or Eben Holden.
• Sarah Coburn (Career Services) Student-Athlete Etiquette Dinner
• There will be an etiquette dinner for athletes on February 11 th at 6:30 in the Eastside Conference Room ( Appleton Arena). 25 slots are available for seniors and juniors first and then will be open to others.
• NCAA Conference and Haze Movie Trailer
• Meg and Austin attended an NCAA conference over winter break. One of the issues talked about was hazing. We watched the trailer for the movie Haze and then discussed the issue of hazing on campus. We decided that a code of conduct for hazing would be a good idea.
• Elections
• We will be doing elections at the next meeting. If you are interested in running for one of the chair positions, let one of the chairs, Meg or Austin know.
• Church and Community Program
• We will be starting this again this semester. Fall sports who did not go during the 1 st semester should help out every Wednesday with this.
• Thelmo Representative
• We discussed the idea of having a representative in Thelmo. If anyone is interested let the chairs know. If you are already in Thelmo and want to act at the representative please let one of the chairs know.
