Q & A with New SAAC Secretary

Lauren Sischo

Junior Lauren Sischo was elected the new Secretary for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee for 2008-2009.  A member of the Women’s Basketball and Soccer team’s from Rodman, New York, she took part in helping the Women’s Basketball team advance to the NCAA Tournament this winter.  

 

Q:  What is your major at St. Lawrence?
A:  I have planned on majoring in Chemistry here at St. Lawrence

 

Q:  Are you involved in other activities besides sports and SAAC?
A:  I am involved in multiple activities at St. Lawrence; the school does a great job of giving you the opportunity to have the pleasure of doing so.  I’m involved in InterVaristy Christian Fellowship and Omicron Delta Kappa, and I’m also a Chemistry Peer Workshop Leader and a tutor.

 

Q:  What is your most memorable sports moment?
A:  My most memorable sports moment is from my junior year of high school when my basketball team won the State Championship!

 

Q:  What is your most memorable SAAC moment/event?
A:  My most memorable SAAC moment was when my soccer team won Star Search in 2007!!

Q & A with New SAAC Vice President

Carson Duggan

Junior Carson Duggan was elected the new Vice President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee for 2008-2009.  A member of the Women’s Ice Hockey Team from Ma-Me-O Beach, Alberta, Carson has become one of the elite goal-scorers in the country and was ECAC Hockey’s “Rookie of the Year” in 2006.

 

Q:  What is your major here at St. Lawrence?
A:   I am majoring in Economics, but am also studying Biology while at St. Lawrence.

 

Q:  Most memorable sports moment?
A:  That would have to be going to the Frozen Four the past two years with the women’s hockey team.  Other games that are most memorable to me on the way to those appearances are beating Minnesota Duluth and University of New Hampshire in the NCAA Quarterfinals.

 

Q:  Most memorable SAAC moment/event?
A:  I would have to say my most memorable SAAC moment/event had to be the Star Search 2006 and can’t wait for this year’s!

Q & A with New SAAC President

Lyndsay Bisaccio

Junior Lyndsay Bisaccio was elected the new President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee for 2008-09.  A member of both the Women’s Cross Country and Track and Field Teams, the Bennington, VT native was named Captain for the fall of 2007 for the Cross Country team. 

 

Q:  What is your major here at St. Lawrence?
A:  I am doing a double major while at St. Lawrence, majoring in Government and African Studies.

 

Q:  Are you involved in other activities on campus besides SAAC and your sport?
A:  Besides being involved in these two organizations I also am a “SLU Buddy.”  I also give admission tours through out the year to future students and their parents.  I’m also a member of ODK and tutor students in math and reading.

 

Q:  Most memorable SAAC moment/event?
A:  Helping out with the Church and Community program here in Canton is one of my most memorable moments while here at St. Lawrence with SAAC.

to Lead SAAC in 2008

Feb. 27: The St. Lawrence University Student Athlete Advisory Committee has elected its new officers to lead the group through 2008. Junior Lyndsay Bisaccio of the women's cross country team has been elected to the position of President, while junior Carson Duggan of the women's hockey program will serve as Vice President. Finally, their fellow classmate Lauren Sischo of the women's soccer and basketball teams will serve as Secretary.

 

The Student Athlete Advisory Committee would like to thank senior Chair Isaac Noyes of the men's Nordic ski team and senior Vice Chair Tedd Rama of the men's crew squad for their hard work and effort over the past year as officials. Noyes and Rama will help transition the new officers into their positions throughout the spring until the group's final meeting.
