SAINTS TIE FOR 1 ST IN TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS

Jan. 27: St. Lawrence University’s equestrian team tied Virginia Intermont for first place at the 2008 Tournament of Champions Winter Classic at the Chatham Hall School in Virginia, but had to settle for second place on a tie-breaker.

The Saints and Virginia Intermont each finished with 33 points in the competition, but the team title was awarded to Virginia Intermont based on the number of blue ribbons accumulated in the course of the horse show. Mt. Holyoke finished third with 31 points with Cornell fourth with 30.

The Saint team included Dorothy Douglas, Brittan White, Katharine Hankin, Suzanne Snyder, Lindsay Colbert, Hadley Deming, Mallory Roberts and Nick Dephtereos.

Douglas won the medal class among open riders and White finished fourth in the same class which included the top open riders from each competing team.
