TIM HALE TO RECEIVE SERVICE AWARD
After graduating from SUNY Cortland, Tim assumed coaching and teaching positions at Lemoyne College and SUNY Plattsburgh, before spending over 25 years at the University of Rochester. At the U of R Tim coached 15 NYSCTC Championship cross country teams, including an impressive 10 consecutive cross country titles from 1987 to 1996. This remains a conference record. In 1991 only three schools in the country had perfect scores of 15 in their conference meets: Villanova Women, Arkansas Men and the University of Rochester Men. This very special accomplishment was a precursor to U of R men’s cross country winning the NCAA Division III Championship in November of 1991. Tim coached 4 individual national champions and amassed an amazing 58 All Americans. In addition to his coaching duties, Tim served the NYSCTC organization well in several leadership roles, including acting as President on several occasions. He also took a major role in developing the constitution which joined the separate men’s and women’s organizations in to our current structure. His time on the NCAA Rules Committee benefited both our NYS schools and the Division III membership as a whole.
