SAINTS HAVE SEVEN CHAMPS, SIX 2NDS AT HAMILTON MEET April 19: St. Lawrence University’s men’s track and field team had seven event champions and six second place finishes, placing at least one athlete in the top five of all but three events entered in a strong showing at the Hamilton Invitational on a warm and sunny day in Clinton on Saturday.
Seniors Erik Donohoe and Nick Perzanoski set meet records in their wins as Donohoe kicked away from teammates Terrance Fox and David Lloyd to win the 1500 in 3:56.44, and Perzanoski won the 400 hurdles in a meet record 54.36 with a strong finish out of the final turn.
John Ostler won the 10,000 meters in 33:5877 with Jacob Malcomb finishing second, Jeremy Beaudette won the 3000 steeplechase in 10:06.19, Jay Thornhill won the 400 meters in 50.25 and Dan Ramsey won the 5000 meters in 15:40.99 for the Saint wins on the track while Geoff Grambo had the Saint win in the field events with a throw of 15.45 in the shot.
Jeremy Mwenda finished second in the 800 meters, Gabe McBride was second in the shot and second in the discus with a 38.72 meter throw and the 4x400 relay team came through with a second place finish. Ben Greenberg was third and Brandon Kenny fifth in the 5000, Jesus Ruiz led the Saints in the hammer with a third place throw of 37.45 with Ryan Ransom fourth, Stephen Moore was third at 4.10 meters in the pole vault while Craig DiGiovanni was third with a 42.76 meter throw in the javelin and Jon Mellinger finished fourth in the 400 hurdles.
The Saints will participate in the Penn Relays on Wednesday and at Rochester on Saturday.
