Fall 2007: McDonald had an impressive start to his sophomore season going 1-0 as the number 4 singles player with a win over Ithaca’s Wolk. McDonald had a commanding lead 6-2, 5-1 over Oneonta’s, Sacco in the Flower City Tournament before the match was decided. In the SLU Fall Classic, McDonald advanced all the way to the finals of the “B Singles” bracket falling only to Ithaca’s Berkowitz. McDonald was also selected for the 2007 Wilson/ITA North East Regional Tournament where he dropped his first round match in a third set super-tie breaker 15-13 to the #4 seed Mattleson from Vassar. He then advanced to the semifinals of the Consolation.
2006-2007: The two time, Liberty League Rookie of the Week, McDonald, finished his Spring Season with the 2 nd best dual match record of 13-2 for the year playing number 6 singles. In the fall, McDonald competed and won the "B" Singles draw in the SLU Fall Classic, defeating teammate Amin Danai in the finals. McDonald and doubles partner Critter Tamm fell in the quarterfinals of the "A" Doubles draw. He advanced to the doubles round of 32 with teammate Matt Satterley in the Wilson/ITA Northeast Regional Championship.

At Manchester Essex High School
McDonald was a two-sport athlete participating in tennis and soccer. He was named to the All-League team for tennis three years in a row, was the team's Most Valuable Player and twice received the Coaches Award. McDonald was also a member of the National Honors Society.
