Fall 2007: As the Saints number 2 singles player, Abernethy produced a 1-2 record for the fall dual match season. One of the losses was in a close three set match against Skidmore with a third set score of 7-5. In tournament action, Abernethy was defeated in the round of 32 of the SLU Fall Classic “A Draw” by RIT’s Chong, in a third set super-tie breaker 10-5. In doubles, Abernethy and partner Benson won the “B Doubles” bracket defeating fellow teammates Gillard and Gates in the finals. Abernethy was also selected to play in the Men’s Wilson/ITA North East Regional Tournament where he advanced to the round of 32. The Rye, NY native is majoring in Fine Arts while at St. Lawrence.

 

2006-2007: Abernethy played in the number three singles position and also competed at the number two doubles position. As the number three singles player, Abernethy went 12-6 during the ’06-’07 year. He qualified for the Regional ITA Tournament, winning one match. He also participated in the SLU Fall Classic "A" Draw, losing his only match to teammate Matt Dwyer.

 

2005-2006: Abernethy went 2-3 at the number four singles position and 8-4 at the number five singles position. Abernethy qualified for the Wilson/ITA Northeast Championship He and partner Neil Cutter went 0-3 in doubles action and 2-1 in tournaments in the fall season. With partner T.J. Rance, Abernethy went 3-4 at the number two doubles position in the spring season. He also went 0-1 at the number three doubles position with Matt Satterly and Amin Danai in the spring. For his efforts, Abernethy was named the Liberty League's "Rookie of the Week" on April 3rd, 2006.

At Pomfret School

Abernethy was a three-sport athlete, competing in soccer, squash and tennis. He was captain of both the soccer and tennis teams.
