MEN DROP TWO
February 17, 2001 -- The Saints men's squash dropped two
matches on Saturday afternoon, falling to Cornell and Hobart. Cornell
is one of the top teams in the nation and took the match 9-0. Hobart also
took a 9-0 decision over the Saints.
St. Lawrence travels to nationals next week.
SAINTS SWEEP HAMILTON
February 7, 2001 -- Both the Saints men's and women's squash
teams took wins over Hamilton last night as the top-five for each took
their matches. The men down the Continentals 6-3, winning the one through
six games, while the women took a 5-4 decision with the top five picking
up wins.
Andrew Constantine won a marathon five-game match to take
the 1-spot while Sam Wevster, Whip Farnum, Andrew Keller, Andrew Geisel
and Eddie Marlette all cruised to three game wins.
Sarah Kreiner, Gigi Tuten, Consuello Pierrepont, Alex Rowland
and Mary Hall rolled to wins in their games. Rowland was the only that
neeed more than three games to pick up a point as she took out Liz Fallon
in four games.
MEN TAKE ONE, DROP TWO
OVER WEEKEND
January 29, 2001 -- The men's squash team took a tough fought
5-4 win over Fordham on Friday but then dropped matches to MIT and Tufts
on Saturday. Andrew Keller turned in the best performance over the three
matches, coming just one point away from a perfect 3-0 weekend.
In the Saturday afternoon match with Tufts, Keller held
match point at 14-13, but ended up dropping the tie-breaker 17-14 to finish
the weekend 2-1. The Saints top five players posted wins in 5-4 defeat
of Fordham. Keller and Andrew Geisel had the only St. Lawrence wins in
a 7-2 loss to MIT and Todd Townsend posted the lone win agianst Tufts.
WOMEN REBOUND
FROM LOSSES TO SWEEP WESLEYAN
January 21, 2001-- The women's squash dropped matches to
Amherst on Friday and Middlebury on Saturday before posting a 9-0 win
over Wesleyan in their final match on Saturday evening. Sarah Kreiner,
Gigi Tuten and Lilith Anderson, playing in the top three spots, all had
perfect 3-0 weekends while Consuelo Pierrepont posted a 2-1 record in
the #4 spot.
Amherst took a close fought match on Friday with a 5-4 win.
The Saints took the top four spots but dropped the five through nine contests.
On Saturday morning, Middlebury took the match 6-3 from the women.
St. Lawrence bounced back with a nine-match sweep of Wesleyan
on Saturday afternoon. Anderson did not give up a point in a three-game
sweep while Tuten surrendered just one-point in her sweep.
MEN'S TEAM POST 7-2
WIN AGAINST NORTHWESTERN
December 9, 2000-- The Saints men's squash team posted a
7-2 win in a Saturday morning match with Northwestern University. The
win keeps the men's team at an unblemished 4-0.
Andrew Constantine tookt he #2 game witha four game win
as the Saints took games four through nine. Andrew Geisel posted a 15-8,
15-11, 3-15, and 15-11 win while St. Lawrence took the rest of the match
with three-game wins. Andrew Keller, Nick Fernandez, Adam Adamo, Dan Amigone
and Justin Roth all took their matches without dropping a game.
WOMEN'S SQUASH POSTS
4-2 RECORD
AT WESLEYAN TOURNAMENT
December 4, 2000-- The St. Lawrence University women's squash
won four in a row after dropping two matches on Friday to post a 4-2 mark
at the Wesleyan Tournament this past weekend. Gigi Tuten in the #2 spot
and Lilith Anderson in the #3 spot both went undefeated over the six matches
while Amy Neidlinger and Jessie Davie posted their first collegiate wins.
The Saints lost to Colby University and Bates College on
Friday, but bounced back in impressive fashion. St. Lawrence downed Franklin
& Marshall 8-1 in their first match Saturday. Tuten highlighted by giving
up just one point in a three-game sweep at the #2 game. Davie picked her
first win of her collegiate career with a 9-4, 4-9, 9-1, 9-1 win over
Mo Coogan of F&M. The Saints took a 7-2 decision from Smith College with
several players shining. Alex Rowland, playing in the #5 game, did not
give up a point as she easily won her slot. Sarah Kreiner, who went 4-2
in the #1 spot over the weekend, gave up one point on her way to a win.
Tuten allowed just two points in a three-game sweep.
St. Lawrence posted two more wins on Sunday, defeating Wellesley
6-3 highlighted by Anderson's 9-0, 9-0, 9-0 win in the #3 spot. St. Lawrence
capped the weekend with a 7-2 victory over Haverford. Tuten again allowed
just one point while Rowland gave up two on their way to wins.
Neidlinger picked up her first collegiate win in the Saints'
loss to Bates on Friday afternoon. The Saints are now 6-2 overall.
MEN AND WOMEN TAKE
WINS OVER HAMILTON
November 29-- The Saints squash teams each enjoyed success
Wednesday night in a match against Hamilton as the men swept the win 9-0
and the women took a convincing 6-3 decision. The women took the top five
spots in their match while the men rolled to their third consecutive win.
In the women's match, Sarah Kreiner and Gigi Tuten gave
up just five points each to take the #1 and #2 games. Lilith Anderson,
Consuela Pierrepont and Alex Rowland each won their best-of-five matches
in three game sweeps. Mary Anne Patterson also won her match at the #7
spot in three games.
On the men's slate, the Saints won all nine matches with
Andrew Constantine, Andrew Geisel and Andrew Keller all taking three-game
sweeps. Sam Webster took the #1 spot with a five game win. Also picking
up victories for St. Lawrence were Whip Farnum, Nick Fernandez, Andy Adam,
Dan Amigone and Justin Roth.
MEN ROLL OVER COLUMBIA
AND HAVERFORD
November 18-- The Saints men's squash team downed Columbia
University 5-4 and then rolled to a 6-3 vicotry over Haverford at Haverford
on Saturday. The Saints won matches one through five against Columbia.
Andrew Constantine, Whip Farnum, Andrew Geisel and Andrew
Keller all went 2-0 over the wekeend as St. Lawrence improved to 2-0 on
the season.
SAINT WOMEN CRUISE
OVER WILLIAM SMITH
November 18-- The St. Lawerence women's squash team easily
defeated William Smith 7-2 in a match Saturday afternoon. The Saints,
in their second year as a varsity sport, took the one through seven matches
on the way to an easy victory.
Sarah Kreiner came back from a 0-2 deficit to take the a
3-2 decision over Lauren Lynch of William Smith. The rest of the matches
were all three game decision, six of which St. Lawrence rolled to easy
wins. Mary Anne Patterson, playing in the six spot, did not lose a point
en route to a 9-0, 9-0, 9-0 win over Karli Maciejowski while Saint Beth
Graydon won 9-1, 9-1, 9-0 in the seven spot. Gigi Tuten, Lilith Anderson,
Alex Rowland and Erin Garland all won their matches in three games.
