ALUMNI WIN 2007 MEN’S OPEN INDOOR LEAGUE Jeff Barclay ’84 is one of two former Saints soccer players who participate in the Men’s Open Indoor League in Manchester, Vermont each spring. In 2007, his team, Pinkus Chiropractic, took top honors in the league, and Barclay found himself alongside former teammate Ward Kane ’83.
“Ward and I were reunited via our team after 20 years or so!” says Barclay. “My first year here, he was down in Costa Rica with his family (where he is again this year), then the next year he showed up for the first game. ‘Is that you, Ward?’ I said. And then we played the next two years together.” Brenton Pinkus, the captain of the squad, played for Crystal Palace back in the early 90s. Others on the team include Bob Jenkins, Duke Class of '86, who is currently the US U-18 Men's team coach.

Sutton (right), who graduated from St. Lawrence in 1999, served as captain of the Saints men’s soccer squad in his final two seasons. During his time with the Scarlet and Brown, the keeper built a strong resume and re-wrote the University’s goalkeeping record books. He was a Regional All-American in 1996 (2nd Team), 1997 (1st Team) and 1998 (1st Team). He was also a First Team National All American in his final season (1998).
Sutton went on to set new career and single-season records in shutouts and saves for St. Lawrence, records that have held on for nearly ten seasons. He owns the career shutout mark with 29.5 and is tied with two others for most shutouts in a season with 12. Sutton also holds the records for saves in a career with 474 and saves in a season with 186.
