TWELVE PLAYERS NAMED TO UCAA ACADEMIC TEAM Twelve members of the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team were named to the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association All Academic team. To be honored, players must maintain an overall 3.2 grade point average and must have sophomore standing at St. Lawrence. Included on the All-Academic team are Charlie Bour, spanish & environmental science, Eric Bunyan, economics, Joe Domingo, economis, Nate Farrell, history, Garrett Huntley, economics, Phillip Koshi, history & spanish, Kyle Krueger, psychology, John Loftus, religion, Mark McIntire, spanish & music, Ryan O'Dowd, government, Elliott Savitz, undeclared and Evan Schutt, history. SCHUTT, HUNTLEY AND TEAM AWARDED FOR EFFORTS OFF THE FIELD Jan. 14: A total of 340 intercollegiate soccer programs including, 74 and 266 women, posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2002-03 school year. Junior defender Evan Schutt was named to the first team NCSAA/adidas 2003 Scholar All-America team. Schutt is a history major at St. Lawrence with a 3.66 cumulative grade point average. Schutt (Webster, NY/Webster High School) scored one goal and assisted on five others as a back for the Saints and helped SLU compile a 0.49 team goals against average overall in 20 games and a 0.25 goals against average in Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association competition where the Saints allowed just two goals in eight games. Also a first-team all UCAA selection, three of his assists came on game winning goals for the Saints, who went 17-3-0 and earned the NCAA regional finals for the sixth straight season.
