OSWEGO STATE TOPS ST. LAWRENCE 76-67

Jan. 7: The Oswego State men's basketball team kept its perfect record in tact as the Lakers pulled away from St. Lawrence in the second half for a 76-67 victory on Friday, January 7th at Laker Hall. Oswego State is now 10-0 on the season, while the Saints dropped to 2-7.  

The Lakers held a 39-35 lead at the break and then used a 14-4 run to open the second half and never let St. Lawrence get back to within single digits.

Oswego State received a big game from center Mat Burridge as the sophomore netted 21 points. Nicholas Perioli added 15 points and five assists, while Todd Franze contributed with 14 points. Dave Ponza recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

St. Lawrence's Aaron Marshall led all scorers with 25 points and rebounders with 13. Keith Sullivan chipped in with 14 points for the Saints.

The Lakers return to SUNY Athletic Conference play on Tuesday, January 11th as they head to Plattsburgh for an 8 p.m. start. Oswego State is 2-0 in conference play and defeated the Cardinals on their home floor back in November by the score of 68-62 in the title game of the Cardinal Tip - Off Classic.

MARSHALL'S DOUBLE-DOUBLE NOT ENOUGH TO EARN WIN

Jan. 5: Aaron Marshall led the Saints with a game-high 21 points and added 14 rebounds, but SLU ultimately fell to Brockport 63-71. With the win, Brockport improves to 5-3 on the year. The Saints fall to 2-6.

Keith Sullivan scored 15 points with seven rebounds, and Pat Delmonico added 14 points for the Saints.

Brockport shot 35% for the night, while St. Lawrence was 43% from the floor. The Golden Eagles led at the half, 35-26, and had a 46-42 rebounding advantage on the night. Brockport led by as many as 15 in the second half (50-35) with 14:09 remaining.

The Saints will play at Oswego on Jan. 7th at 8:00 pm. Oswego is currently 8-0 and will play Clarkson on Jan. 6th.
