2008-09: Selected as the ECAC's Best Defensive Defenseman and named a second team All America by Inside College Hockey, Matt Generous was a key contributor both offensively and defensively for the Saints as a senior. He scored eight goals and had nine assists for the league's most prolific group of scoring defensemen and was a big part of the unit which helped the Saints compile their best team goals against average since the 1950s. He was the winner of the Brian McFarlane Award for academic and athletic achievement and was also named the St. Lawrence Outstanding Senior Scholar-Athlete Award winner.

2007-08: ECAC All Academic for the second straight year, Matt Generous also had a solid season on the ice for the Saints, scoring three goals and assistin gon 12 others in a 15-point season. He missed four games with an injury early in teh season, but played in 29 straight to finish out the year. He scored his first goal of the season in a 4-1 win over Providence and had a four-game scoring streak at mid-year.

2006-07: A ECAC Hockey All Academic team member, Matt Generous had an outstanding season for the Saints on the blue line. He played in 37 of 39 games for the Siants and scored three goals and assisted on six others for nine points. He was plus-seven in the plus-minus rankings which was second among Saint defenders.

2005-06: A member of the ECACHL All Rookie Team and the winner of the Ronald C. Hoffmann Outstanding First Year Scholar-Athlete Award, Matt had an outstanding rookie season. While the year got off to a slow start while recovering from an ankle injury, he played in 34 straight after missing the first six of the year and finished the season with four goals and 11 assists for 15 points. He scored his first collegiate point in his debut with an assist in a win over Union and had his first collegiate goal and first collegiate multi-point game with a goal and two assists at Yale Nov. 11.

Pre-SLU:A 7th round draft choice by the Buffalo Sabres of the NHL and the 208th player taken in the 2005 draft, Matt Generous was the captain and Defenseman of the Year for the New England Junior Falcons last season. He scored nine goals and had 16 assists for 25 points.


Personal: The son of Susan and Edward Generous, Matt attended Cheshire High School and played lacrosse and golf. He was All Sectional and All State in lacrosse and was an honor roll student.
