SAINT MEN WIN SARATOGA INVITATIONAL


Oct. 25: St. Lawrence University's men's cross country team placed four runners in the top ten and went on to take the team title in the Saratoga Invitational hosted by Rensselaer on Saturday.

The Saints, running the same course which will host the New York State Collegiate Track Conference championship in their next outing on Nov. 8, finished with 37 points with Ithaca five points back with 42 and R.I.T. third with 69 in a nine-team field.

Mike Styczynski of Ithaca was the individual champion in 25:29, one of the best times in course history at Saratoga. Jon French led the Saints with a second place finish, 20 seconds back in 25:49 while Andy Dana was third overall in 25:58.

Jonah Freedman was the Saints' third finisher and was sixth overall in 26:17, Adam Van Nortwick returned to action after battling injury and was 10th in 26:39 and Sam Perry ran a strong race to finish as the Saints' fifth man in 27:05.

Aaron Ladd finished 24th overall in 27:28 and Kevin Emblidge completed the Saint top seven with a 29th place finish in 27:36. Other finishes for the Saints included a 30th by Dane Schneider in 27:37, a 35th by Ryan Pollock in 27:46, 46th by Ian Hubbard in 28:23, 47th by Ben Meade in 28:24 and a 54th by Brian Aucter in 28:42.
