2007: Ostler served as one of the Saints' captains in 2007 and also became one of the team's most dynamic runners. The Morrisville, VT native won the 2007 Hoffmann Invitational with a time of 26:09, and set a new personal best time of 25:28, 39 seconds faster than his former collegiate best mark. Ostler did not finish outside of the top-25 all season in seven races, and was both the 12th place finisher at the State Championships and also the 23rd place runner at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regionals.

 

2006: John had another consistent season as a top five runner for the Saints. He was eighth in the Hoffmann Invitational, 12th at Oswego and 10th in the SLU Quad and finished 15th in the Liberty League Championships. He was the third Saint finisher, 16th overall at Saratoga and was the second Saint finisher, 27th overall at the NYSCTC Championship.

 

2005: A consistent scorer for the Saints as a sophomore, he had a top finish of seventh at the Panther Invitational. Other solid races included a 16th at Oswego and 22nd at Saratoga. He finished 45th in the NYSCTC Championships


2004: John had a solid rookie season for the Saints, earning 2nd team All Liberty League honors as the top rookie finisher in the league championship race with an eighth place. He also finished 7th at Middlebury in another top ten finish.

At Peoples Academy

John ran cross country, indoor and outdoor track and played basketball. He was a 2002 and 2003 All League selection and captained both the indoor track and cross country teams. He finished ninth in the 2003 Vermont Division II cross country championships and helped his team to the team title. He was the individual champion and led his team to the Division III title as a junior. He was a member of the National Honor Society and earned the Northern Vermont Ridge Runners Scholarship and the Joe Yando Memorial Scholarship.
