DONOHOE IS ALL-AMERICAN AFTER 6th PLACE

FINISH AT 2007 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Nov. 17: St. Lawrence University senior Erik Donohoe finished in 6th place out of 280 runners at the 2007 NCAA Division III Men’s Cross Country Championships on Saturday with a time of 24:46, earning the Boxford, MA native All-America status. Joining Donohoe at the event, hosted by St. Olaf College, was sophomore Eli Howard, who finished the 8 km course with a time of 25:41 for 77th place overall.

Donohoe became the Saints’ first All-American since Kris Enwright in 2001, and is the 15th in the program’s storied history. The sixth place finish puts the final stamp on Donohoe’s outstanding cross country collegiate career, which included two Liberty League individual championships.

Meanwhile, Howard completes his breakout season with the Scarlet and Brown, which saw the Richmond, VT native earn five top-10 finishes.

New York University won the 2007 men's team title, while UW-Platteville's Tyler Sigl took home the individual crown on Saturday. Sigl clenched his hands in victory as he cross the finish line with a winning time of 24:24.

NYU won the team title behind Hany Abdallah's ninth place run, and saw all of its scoring runners in the top 40, holding off second place Haverford by 22 points.

The 2007 NCAA Championships conclude the men’s cross country season, with the Liberty League announcing its yearly award winners this week.

DONOHOE, HOWARD QUALIFY FOR NCAAs

Nov. 12: After a successful weekend at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Cross Country Championships, Senior Erik Donohoe and rookie Eli Howard both qualified as individual runners to compete in the 2007 Division III Cross Country Championships this upcoming weekend at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN.

Despite an impressive fifth place finish at the meet this past weekend, the men’s team did not receive an at-large bid to the championships.

Donohoe and Howard led a deep Saints team to their 13th consecutive Liberty League title this season and finished 9th and 16th, respectively, at Regionals out of 271 competitors.

Donohoe, who was named Liberty League Performer of the Week for the sixth time this season after his performance at Regionals, will be competing in his second consecutive championship, as the Boxford, MA finished 135th last year at the meet.

Howard, who is a sophomore but is in his first year running for the Saints, will be competing in his first NCAA cross country championships. The Richmond, VT native was named Liberty League Rookie of the Week for the sixth time as well after his finish in New York City over the weekend.

The runners will travel to St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN on Thursday to compete in the race, which will be held on Saturday, November 17th. The race is set to begin at 12:00pm.
