Leithead Field House has been the home of the
highly successful Saint indoor track and field program
since its construction in the early 1970s and also
serves as a winter training site and inclement weather
playing facility for the Saint tennis teams.
While track and tennis will move to the new Newell
Field House in the fall, Leithead will continue
to serve as a multi-purpose facility for intercollegiate
athletic teams and intramural and recreational use.
The tenth of a mile indoor track is popular with
joggers and runners on rainy days or during the
winter months and the expansive turf-covered infield
provides a surface for winter workouts for lacrosse,
baseball and softball as well as housing turf tennis
courts which will be used for recreational play.
It is also the site of intramural indoor soccer
games and can be used for volleyball as well.
The east end of the field house contains the new
Saint squash complex, which includes six competition
squash courts with future plans for two additional
courts.
