A candidate for regular duty in the outfield, Fitzgerald saw action in seven games on the southern trip to open his rookie season.

Garrett was an all league selection in baseball as a senior and the winner of the Paul Lepley Award for commitment and attitude. He also won the Ennis Award in football and was a member of the hockey team.
