Head Coach Jeff Pier
More recently, Coach Pier has coached numerous skiers to the elite level, with former athletes having competed in the Winter Olympic Games, the NCAA Championships, the U.S. National Alpine Championships, U.S. Ski Team Development Camps, Junior Olympics, and many other high-level national and international competitions. He is a United States Ski Coaches Association Level III Certified Coach, an International Certified Coach and Examiner and a member of the National Coaches Academy Staff.
Coach Pier is recognized as a USSA International Certified Coach, its highest level, and has been a clinic leader for the U.S. Ski Team for nearly 20 years, at Coaches Education seminars across the country. He was on the staff at the National Development System camps in Mt. Hood, Ore. and Mammoth Mt., Calif. in June of 2003 and 2004 and has served on the NCAA Skiing Committee, 2003-present. After serving as the chair of the committee last season, Pier has again been chosen as the 2006-07 NCAA Men's and Women's Skiing Committee Chair.
Assistant Coach Abigail Copeland
Copeland raced with the women's alpine ski team throughout all four years of her collegiate career. Before joining the Scarlet and Brown in 2002, she was a Junior Olympic champion in the slalom, as well as a two-time All-State Field Hockey selection. Copeland also was a member of the Saints field hockey squad for four seasons as well.
Copeland has a wealth of coaching experience, having served as both a dryland training instructor and a field hockey coach. She worked with a variety of athletes on improving their endurance, strength and balance as a dryland trainer in Stowe, VT from 2000-02. Copeland was also a youth field hockey camp instructor for both Skidmore and Union from 1999-2002.
