Alumni Biography:

Since 2006, Ray Shero has been the Executive VP and General Manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins Hockey Club (NHL), who were the Stanley Cup Champions most recently in 2009. Previously, he was the Assistant General Manager for the Nashville Predators (1998-2006) and the Ottawa Senators (1993-1998). After leaving St. Lawrence, Ray was a Player Agent for the Sports Consulting Group (1985-1993). In 1991, Ray married Karen Tibbo (University of New Hamshire, 1987). They have two children: Chris, born in 1995 and Kyle, born in 1998. They currently reside in Pittsburgh, PA. The thing Ray enjoyed most at St. Lawrence were the friendships he made. His best friends today are people he went to school with at St. Lawrence. He got his start in hockey because Randy Sexton, 1982 graduate and former SLU hockey captain, hired him as his Assistant GM in Ottawa in 1993. The SLU connection has opened doors for Ray and he is always happy to help out a SLU undergrad or graduate if they have interest in pursuing a career in Sports Management.
