Information Technology
As the division of Information Technology in one of the nation’s leading liberal arts colleges, staff strives to build and maintain a technology-rich teaching, learning and research environment that is robust and reliable, a secure infrastructure, and advanced administrative systems. Staff endeavors to provide superior client services as we enthusiastically collaborate with faculty and staff colleagues towards the ultimate goal of preparing students to be technologically fluent in all of the ways appropriate for a liberally educated person. (Information Technology Vision Statement, 2006)

Three co-chief information officers coordinate the work of Information Technology: educational technologies, network technologies and client services. Secure wireless networking is available in the Student Center, Owen D. Young and Launders Science Libraries, and many academic and residence buildings. There are over 325 public access computers in ten computing labs, plus 200 department computers, available for student use. These computers run Windows Vista with MS Office 2007 (effective summer 2008) and Mac OS X with Office 2004.

The 30 IT staff support legacy systems for administrative databases; support the technical infrastructure for the Web and network; provide technology training opportunities for students, faculty and staff; offer repair services for students’ personal computers; maintain and support 70 technology-enhanced public teaching and learning spaces; provide AV event support; and provide campus mail room, telecommunication and duplicating services.
