Dr. Jeff Stannard ’75 helps people reconstruct
their lives. As a maxillofacial prosthodontist, he works with
people who require dental reconstruction because of injury or illness.
It’s a specialty that requires skill, knowledge and
sensitivity, qualities he learned at St. Lawrence.
The rigorous
education in chemistry combined with the chance for strong
friendships on campus to prepare Jeff for his professional training and vocation. “It
wasn’t until I went to St. Lawrence that I became certain about my desire
to be a dentist,” he says. “I realized that chemistry was something
that I was especially interested in, the labs provided the opportunity
to apply my knowledge.”
Jeff was a member of a Sigma Pi fraternity, and says “that is
where many of my friends came from.” Thinking of organizations
like the Outing Club and opportunities like study abroad, he says, “Knowing
how interesting my life was when St. Lawrence wasn’t nearly as
advanced as it is now, I can only imagine how many different
ways it provides for students to experience life these days.”
