Annette (Annie) Medina-Walpole ’86

Dr. Annette (Annie) Medina-Walpole ’86 cares both for and about senior citizens. “I knew I would choose a field in primary care,” Annette says, “but never expected to become a geriatrician.  St. Lawrence University provided a sound education in the basic sciences and humanities in an environment where I could develop and flourish as a student leader.  I am passionate about my work and my love of geriatrics, and education keeps me motivated with career satisfaction.”

Annie joined the faculty at the University of Rochester in 1998. She is a summa cum laude , Phi Beta Kappa graduate of SLU, with degrees in biology and chemistry.  She completed her medical degree at the University of Chicago in 1990.  Since her arrival at the University of Rochester, she has received numerous awards for her research, teaching and practice.  In additional to her faculty and clinical duties, she is co-director of the Aging Theme at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and program director of the Geriatric Fellowship Program. Her current career and research interests include geriatric education and nursing home-acquired pneumonia.
