Announcements
Recognition Reception Scheduled: A reception honoring this year’s retirees and employees observing various anniversaries of service to the University is set for Wednesday, April 21, at 3 p.m. in Eben Holden. At 3:30 p.m., President Sullivan will honor those who are retiring and those who are observing their 25th anniversary with
St. Lawrence.

Festival of Science: The 2004 Festival of Science will be held Friday, April 23, 2-
6:15 p.m. in the Student Center. Refreshments will be served.

Library Prizes: Friends of the Owen D. Young and Launders Libraries sponsor the following student prizes for student work. Two Samuel Johnson Bibliography Prizes are awarded for the best undergraduate bibliographies in support of (1) a research paper, and (2) an honors thesis submitted for St. Lawrence courses during the 2003-2004 academic year. Entries must be submitted to Bart Harloe, ODY Library, by 4:30 p.m., Friday,

. The Josephine Mentley St. Lawrence and North Country Studies Award goes to the creator of a paper or project completed in the 2003-2004 academic year, regardless of discipline, that focuses on topics or issues relating to St. Lawrence history or to the North Country. Entries (which become the property of ODY Library) must be submitted to Theresa O’Reilly in ODY Library by 4:30 p.m., Friday, April 30. For criteria, prizes and other information: 5454.

Learn To Swim Program: Forty-minute swimming lessons for children ages 3 and over will be given in two sessions (April 12-16 and April 19-23, at 5:30-6:10 p.m. and 6:15-6:55 p.m.). Lunch Bunch: Laurentian Women's Association Lunch Bunch meets on the first Wednesday of each month in the Eben Holden Conference Room (note new location). Remaining date for the spring semester is May 5. Reservations must be made by noon the preceding day with Mickey Williams, 386-8781.

St. Lawrence was one of 18 institutions awarded a new grant in 2003 through the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Award Program, which is aimed at encouraging students in underrepresented groups to pursue doctoral studies and is one of the U.S. Department of Education Federal TRIO Programs.
