Senior Associate Director of Major Gifts

The Senior Associate Director of Major Gifts joins an Associate Director and the Director of Parent Leadership Giving to implement a comprehensive major gifts program for St. Lawrence University. This individual travels extensively to qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospective alumni, parents and friend donors. The primary focus is on facilitating productive relationships with donors, prospects, and volunteers, resulting in gifts of $100,000 or more, and collaborating with colleagues in University Advancement and across campus to ensure continued and increased effectiveness in our engagement programs for major gifts. He/ she is responsible for conducting qualification visits in addition to managing approximately 150 qualified prospects, cultivating them toward solicitation, and closing gifts.  Telecommuting/ remote office arrangement will be considered under certain circumstances.

Skills/ Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree is required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Four years minimum experience in major gifts fundraising. Proven ability to successfully cultivate, solicit and close five- and six- figure gifts.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with donors with the highest degree of professionalism and integrity.
