Instructor/Program Coordinator

St. Lawrence University’s Department of Education seeks a two-third-time Visiting Instructor/Teacher Education Program Coordinator beginning January 2013.  (Upon satisfactory review, this appointment may be renewed for up to three years.)

Duties and responsibilities:
Teach two courses per semester and coordinate the undergraduate and graduate teacher education program, including, but not limited to, New York State and TEAC program accreditation and teacher candidate performance assessment.

Required qualifications:
A Master degree in Education or a Bachelor degree in Education and a Master degree in a content area; five years teaching experience in secondary schools; experience in teacher education on the post-secondary level, including teaching challenging courses in Education and supervising student teachers; and abilities in teacher education program development, assessment, and evaluation.

Desired qualifications:
Experience with teacher education certification and teacher education program accreditation processes; teacher candidate performance assessment; assessment, accreditation, and learning management systems; and educational technologies.  

The teacher education program at St. Lawrence University prepares students for initial and on-going teacher certification in New York State and reciprocating jurisdictions in the subjects of 7-12 English, Foreign Languages, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and K-12 Art.
