Visiting Assistant Professor of Photography/Digital Media

The Department of Fine Arts seeks a photographer/digital media artist to teach all levels of undergraduate courses in film-based darkroom photography as well as occasional digital media related courses in the artist’s area of competency and research interest. Position begins August 2010.

We are particularly looking for an artist who will bring a critical and creative approach to the teaching of photography, digital media/technology, and their relationships to contemporary art and culture. Ideally, this artist will be versed in contemporary theories relating to visual imaging and should encourage trans- and/or post-media methods of creative production in their teaching of these topics. Other areas of personal creative investigation and production may take any shape or form.

Requirements: MFA in photography and/or digital media with teaching experience in areas listed above and evidence of continuing artistic accomplishment. Send a letter of application with a statement that addresses professional and artistic goals, a teaching philosophy, CV, 20 images of current work, 20 images of student work (slides, CD's, or DVD’s are acceptable), names and addresses of three professional references, and a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the return of materials, to:  Photography Search Chair, Department of Fine Arts, St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY  13617.
