Research Profiles
Geoffrey Millard ’10

A University Fellowship during summer 2008 allowed Geoffrey Millard ’10 to experience what a career in chemistry research might be like. Said Millard, “I was able to improve my understanding of techniques and equipment.”

Geoff follows in the footsteps of his older brother, Matthew ’09.  Each was recruited for the Saints’ cross country and track and field teams. “I heard about all of the fun Matthew was having and how rewarding his first year was at SLU and I wanted to be a part of the same experience,” explained Millard, who this year is on the two squads with his brother.

Chemistry is a common interest in the Millard family. “My mother studied chemistry at Western University in London, Ontario, and Matthew is also studying chemistry here at SLU. It just seemed like a natural fit for me to major in chemistry,” explained Millard.

The Millard family hails from Brockville, Ontario. Millard attended the Thousand Islands Secondary School.

“After several years at St. Lawrence, I still get the same feeling of discovery every time I learn something new,” added Millard. He’s planning on taking the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) next spring and applying to graduate and medical programs in the fall.

When Millard is not in the lab or lacing up his running sneakers, he enjoys going to Artist Guild and Hub theme cottage events, as well as occasional Java coffeehouse shows.
