Leah Frankel '07 says, “The University
Fellowship was
good experience to better understand the history of St. Lawrence
and its progression into the 150th year of operation.” (2005-2006
is St. Lawrence’s Sesquicentennial year.) Working with
her advisor Professor Marta Albert, Leah began a treasure hunt while
searching for records in all the likely and very unlikely places.
She’s also invited Jewish alumni of the University to contact
her with their stories.
Leah is used to doing research as a writer for The Hill News, editor
for The Stump and managing editor for The Laurentian. She
also spent all of last year studying in France through St. Lawrence’s off-campus
study abroad program.
English major Frankel is continuing her research next semester
as an independent research project. She will be collaborating
with Dr. Lorrie Baron, a former SLU professor, to further his lecture
on the same topic this spring. “I hope this information
will be archived that it has all been gathered.”
