A native of Kathmandu, Nepal, computer science and mathematics major
Ashish Dixit '06 first learned of St. Lawrence from a college guidebook
and the University’s Web site. “My decision to apply
for transfer here was largely affected by the research opportunities,
both on and off campus, and opportunities for overall personal development
through several avenues on campus," he says. "However,
the generous financial aid award that I received was what made it
possible for me to attend.”
Dixit believes that “Every choice you make in your life, no
matter how trivial, will affect you and others around you.” Accordingly,
he states that “All interactions that I have had with the faculty,
peers, staff and people from the community around St. Lawrence have
had some impact on me and helped me develop a broader outlook toward
world issues.”
In 2004, he was selected to conduct independent research with a
faculty member as a University Fellow, on the topic "Language-Based
Hardware Design Using SystemC.” Dixit presented the results
of that research at the 2005 Hudson River Undergraduate
Mathematics Conference.
