Remember
that time when…? Chances are that Karoline Chrzanowski
'06, of Watertown, NY, can tell you why you remember it,
if you do. Awarded a University Fellowship, she spent the
summer of 2005 working with Assistant Professor of Psychology Sharon
Hannigan, to create an experiment comparing the effectiveness of
different kinds of memory retrieval cues. "A lot of research
has been done with memory retrieval using strictly visual cues, but
very little research has been conducted with other sensory cues,
and I think that it’s something worth researching," Chrzanowski
(Immaculate Heart Central School) says.
The research also became her senior honors project,
working with Hannigan and Professor of Psychology Alan Searleman,
known nationally for his expertise on human memory. Chrzanowski presented
her work during the Family Weekend Honors Reception and the 2006
Festival of Science. Active in the student government organization
as well as a number of other campus groups, Chrzanowski has
been accepted into graduate school at New York University, pursuing
a degree in student affairs/higher education administration.
