This past fall I was studying at Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan. During the semester I studied Japanese religions and visited numerous temples and shrines in the area. It was an incredible experience, not just from a religious studies standpoint, but also from the unique experience of being able to experience a radically different culture firsthand. I'm interested in religious studies because I believe that religion is a driving force in society and by studying religion, I'm able to understand the core beliefs of many different cultures.
