Exceptions to EnrollmentVerify
There are two prerequisites that a student must meet for use of EnrollmentVerify:
The student must have a valid Social Security Number and must be an active student. Examples of student exceptions for use of this service would be International Students without an SSN as well as prefreshmen that are not active in our database. In the event that you or your student does not meet the prerequisites, please contact the Registrar's Office at (315) 229-5267 for further assistance. DegreeVerify does not have these limitations.

Enrollment Status Defined for Undergrads

A student’s enrollment status affects many aspects of the educational experience (full-time, half-time, less than half-time): Financial aid, student loan repayment, athletic eligibility, health insurance coverage, veteran’s benefits and visas for international students, among others. Enrollment status is based on the number of credit hours of course enrollment in a semester. Full-time status is defined as enrollment for at least 12 semester hours (3.5 SLU units) of matriculated credit for a term of 15 weeks. Please reference the following chart for further clarification:

Fall/Spring Term
Summerterm
Full Time= 3.50 or > units Full Time = 1.75 or > units
Half Time = 1.75 to 3.49 units Half Time = 1 to 1.74 units
Less than HT = < 1.75 units Less than HT = < 1 unit

The 2007-2008 University Catalog states (on page 26), “Students may not take a course load of fewer than 3.5 units in any semester without their student status or athletic status being affected. Students who begin the semester on a part-time status (half-time or less than half-time), or who fall to part-time during the first month of the semester by dropping or withdrawing from a course (down to a total of three course units or fewer), will be certified as part-time students for New York state financial aid purposes, other private scholarships that require full-time certification and repayment of student loans. They will lose their New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) and Scholarships if they are part-time students.” Please note that foreign students, veterans, and athletes who participate in an NCAA sport are affected by a part-time status whenever the status change occurs and a student’s health insurance coverage may also be affected.

Enrollment status data is sent to the National Student Loan Clearinghouse (NSLC) on a weekly basis each Fall and Spring semester. Students seeking enrollment verification must understand that the enrollment reports to the NSLC are strictly based on the number of units registered. Whenever a student’s registration status changes (e.g. full-time to half-time or vice versa) the date of the change is noted in the database and enrollment verifications will reflect the new status.
