Preparing for Registration

6 SIMPLE STEPS

STEP 1: REVIEW THE SCHEDULE OF CLASSES

Use the APR course search feature or refer to the WEB version of the Course Schedule for regularly updated course information. You can move courses of interest to your Working List as a helpful beginning to conversations with your advisor.

STEP 2: CHECK YOUR CAMPUS EMAIL REGULARLY! 

Faculty and Administrative Offices routinely send updated information regarding scheduling changes, cancellations, special instructions, etc., concerning registration and other important academic processes. Don't miss out by failing to monitor your campus email account.

STEP 3: CHECK YOUR RECORD 

Log on to APR to check for "HOLDS". These will be noted in the left-hand column of the APR homepage. They STOP you from registering, so contact the office listed to clear the hold immediately. Your academic advisor is responsible for clearing the advising hold. See step #4 below.

STEP 4: SEE YOUR ADVISOR TO DISCUSS YOUR PLANS AND REMOVE YOUR ADVISING HOLD

  • Schedule an appointment with your academic advisor.
  • Be prepared to discuss your registration plans with your advisor by having courses in your Working List.
  • If you do not know who your advisor is check My Advisor under the Student Tools menu in APR.
  • If you do not have an advisor, contact the Advising Office.
  • Your advisor will remove your Registration Hold. If you have more than one academic advisor, either can remove the hold. If your Registration Hold is not removed, you will not be able to register.

STEP 5: OBTAIN ANY SPECIAL PERMISSIONS 
If you need an instructor's permission to register for a section, speak with the instructor and give her/him your student ID number, which s/he must enter into the APR system BEFORE you can request registration in the course.

STEP 6: ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE DURING YOUR REGISTRATION TIME PERIOD

  • Once you have submitted your course requests and your designated registration time has arrived, check back about 30 minutes after the processing time to see if you received all of your requests. Your course registrations will be noted next to the course in the request list.
  • View Registration Results to see the status of each course you requested and the reason for non-enrollment for those courses in which you did not get registered.
  • You may drop registration in a course during your registration period. Please use this option carefully! If you request a course section which becomes full, you will automatically be added to another available section of the same course which fits your schedule if one is available. The registration notation will be 'ALT'. You may drop registration in this section if you do not want it.
  • If your schedule is not full, add more courses to your request list and check back again after the next processing time. If you still do not have a full schedule at the end of your designated registration period, you will be able to add courses at the end of the week in order to fill out your schedule.
