When I first came to St. Lawrence I had no idea what I wanted to major in. That was until I took Intro to Psychology. The interesting topics and friendly faculty immediately pulled me in. Since then I have taken a number of psychology courses, all of which I have loved! I really like how at St. Lawrence there is a lab requirement with the Psychology major. For me, the labs have been my most favorite classes because they allow one to step outside the classroom and get hands-on experience.
I have really enjoyed my time at St. Lawrence so far. I am a member of cross country, as well as the indoor and outdoor track teams. I am also a member of MAASV and Psi Chi. I work at the athletic center and I had the experience of spending a semester volunteering at a local nursing home.
During the summer of 2011 I studied abroad in Ireland with a group of St. Lawrence students. We traveled all over the country learning about Irish history and literature. I had such a blast that I ended up applying to study abroad in Dublin, Ireland for the Spring 2012 semester through a non-SLU program. Throughout my stay I got a chance to travel all over Ireland as well as many other European countries. I met so many people and really stepped out of my comfort zone when I joined the kayaking and climbing clubs.
After I graduate in 2013 I plan on going directly to graduate school to receive a Master's degree, and then possibly a PhD. I am not completely sure where I want to study or what my degree will be in, but I am sure it will have something to do with psychology.
So far I have really enjoyed my time at St. Lawrence. I know the classes I have taken, the lessons I have learned, and the many relationships I have made will benefit me in the future.
