An interdisciplinary minor in applied statistics is available to students
wishing to develop a solid understanding of methods for collecting,
analyzing and interpreting data. Course work can be selected from the
general statistics courses offered by the mathematics, computer science
and statistics department and various disciplinary methods courses
offered by the departments of biology, economics, psychology and
sociology. Students are encouraged to obtain a broad understanding
of the fundamental principles of statistics while emphasizing the important
applications
of those principles to real-world situations.
