Subject: In Memory: Stephanie Baron ’16
It is truly heartbreaking for me to share the sad news of Stephanie Baron's death. A member of the Class of 2016 from Cazenovia, N.Y., Stephanie died on Tuesday, July 30. On behalf of the Laurentian community, we have shared our deepest sympathies to Stephanie’s parents Julie Baron and Charles Baron, sisters Alexandria Baron and MacKenzie Baron, and grandparents, and I express the same condolences to her faculty, friends, and classmates at St. Lawrence.
Stephanie impressed her faculty advisors as vibrant, funny, kind, good-natured, and polite. As Professor Mary Jane Smith said, “in a group of exceptionally good-natured, sociable, kind Campbell Collegians, she shone.” Her family told us that she “enjoyed playing basketball, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. Her high-spirited personality made her the kind of young woman that anyone would be proud to call daughter, sister and friend.”
Her family will host calling hours at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 220 East Fayette Street, Syracuse, on Friday, August 2, from 4 to 7 p.m., and a funeral service is scheduled on Saturday, August 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 12 Mill St, in Cazenovia, N.Y.
We have created a memorial Web site for your reflections now. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Stephanie Baron Memorial Fund c/o The CNY Community Foundation, 431 E. Fayette St., Syracuse, NY 13202 or securely online at www.cnycf.org/Baron.
Stephanie’s family will have the full support of our campus community as they consider ways to remember Stephanie. When we have plans developed with the family, we will share information with you.
