St Lawrence University - Poetry for Peace Podcast

Campus Podcasts

Poetry for Peace is a monthly series that brings together students, faculty, and community who read poetry by well-known poets or original works, all on themes related to peace. Each month, many languages are represented among the poems, and English translations are provided to the audience members.

Associate Professor of Modern Languages Marina Llorente began organizing Poetry for Peace in 2003 and she continues to coordinate the series today.

Most of the Poetry For Peace episodes will present a selection of the poems from each event. As Poetry for Peace readings can be as long as 60 minutes, the podcasts will offer selections that together total 15-20 minutes. Occasionally for special events, the complete recording will be published instead of a selection. Some poems read at Poetry for Peace events are selected with an adult audience in mind and may not be appropriate for younger listeners.
