SLU astronomer Jeffrey Miller spent four nights in April observing with the 0.9-meter (36 inch) WIYN telescope. He observed with colleagues and students from Union College, West Texas A&M, and the University of Wisconsin (Madison). The WIYN consortium (the University of Wisconsin, Indiana University, Yale University, and the National Optical Astronomy Observatory) operates the observatory at the Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona. Miller observed Hα in clusters of galaxies whose properties are under coordinated study by the Undergraduate ALFALFA Team.
This was the second trip for a SLU astronomer observing on the 0.9-meter telescope; Aileen O'Donoghue had previously observed here in 2011.
