So what is so awesome about Performance and Communication Arts? Well for starters, it is a major that provides you with very essential tools no matter what career you choose to pursue. It helps develop your understanding of communication, and helps you refine your Public speaking skills in many ways. In addition, it is one of the most active majors on campus with a large variety of courses that are bound to peak your interest.

For these reasons, I chose to pursue this major. When I first started at SLU, I had no clue what direction I wanted to go. I was taking such a variety of courses, my advisor never thought I would graduate with a specific degree! But by the end of my sophomore year, I was able to narrow it down. Well, at least a bit. I love to move, to work with my hands, to help people out, and above all to be challenged. Thanks to the PCA department, I have found a place where I am useful, good, and tested each semester. I am constantly learning and I enjoying every last minute of it.

It has also helped me grow as a person and teammate. It has taught me how to manage my academic and athletic careers at St. Lawrence University, as well as many valuable life and professional skills. I may be a PCA major, but my life will most likely lead me into a sport profession. Do I know which one? Nope, but I am confident of my journey and where it may lead me, and loving it every bit of the way. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “life is a journey, not a destination.”

If you are seeking to learn valuable skills that will help you succeed in just about any career you wish to pursue, look no further! The PCA department, as well as the whole St. Lawrence University campus and what it has to offer, will provide you with all you need to succeed.
