Auditions for McLaughlin’s Iphigenia and Other Daughters

Prof. Matt Saltzberg will direct PCA’s fall mainstage production: Ellen McLaughlin’s Iphigenia and Other Daughters. The play is a triptych: a contemporary, poetic reimagining of Euripides’s Iphigenia at Aulis, Sophocles’s Electra, and Euripides’s Iphigenia in Tauris (in that order).

McLaughlin, writing from a place of profound empathy, examines what happens at ‘home’ when history is being made and recorded elsewhere, especially during war time. (McLaughlin is also an actress, and is perhaps best known as the original Angel in Tony Kushner’s Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning epic Angels in America.) The performance text will be developed through physical theatre methods, and the cast will train in the Suzuki Method of Actor Training.

Auditions will be held Monday, September 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in the Edson R. Miles Blackbox Theater. Callbacks will be held Tuesday, September 3rd and the cast will begin training Wednesday, September 4th. There are roles for 4 women and 2 men.

The production will play Wednesday, November 6th through Saturday, November 9th in the Edson R. Miles Blackbox Theater.

Scripts are available for check-out in the Noble Center Arts Office.
