Phil has been Director of the Outdoor Program since 1997. He has a B.S. in Geology from Union College, and M.S. in Geology from Western Washington University. He teaches courses in outdoor leadership, wilderness medicine , backcountry skiing and avalanche safety, and whitewater canoe and canoe tripping.
Phil is an instructor for Wilderness Medical Associates and a certified WFR and EMT. He has also completed the Ski Guide Course and Ski Mountaineering course with the AMGA. Phil has been leading canoe expeditions with the OP since 1997 to the James Bay and Hudson Bay regions of northern Canada. Dan McDonnell - Associate Director

Dan graduated from St. Lawrence University with a degree in Environmental Sociology in 2000. An Outdoor Program guide and active Outing Club member while at St. Lawrence, Dan went on to guide in Wyoming on horseback in the summer, as well guiding in Yellowstone National Park and the Bridger-Teton National Forest in winter. Dan's boating has taken him as far as Kenya where he was a raft guide for Savage Wilderness Safaris, based in Nairobi; as well as well as leading river trips in northern Quebec and Ontario for various organizations, including St. Lawrence. He taught kayak and whitewater canoe technique at Keewaydin Dunmore in Salisbury, Vermont as well. His time at St. Lawrence afforded him a great opportunity to explore the amazing whitewater in northern New York, New England, and southern Ontario, and enjoys sharing these beautiful waterways with students. Dan also coordinates the Pre-orientation trip program for First-Year students and oversees the flatwater canoeing facilities.

Katie graduated from St. Lawrence University in 2008 with a degree in Environmental Studies and Government. As a student, she participated on both the Adirondack Semester and Kenya Semester programs and was actively involved in sustainability at the University. Her experience at St. Lawrence and beyond has taken her climbing throughout the northeast, Mexico, Kentucky, and Wyoming. Katie manages the Munro Climbing Wall, and also coordinates rock and ice climbing programs at St. Lawrence.
