 Munro Family Climbing Wall
The Munro Family Climbing Wall located in the Newell Fitness Center offers 1200 square feet of varied angles and features for climbing and bouldering. The wall is 32 feet high and offers the opportunity to lead and top rope climbs. The Outdoor Program supplements all necessary gear and instruction. Come out and try it for the first time or work on developing outdoor strength and endurance.
Clinics offered:
Introduction to Climbing and Belaying- For beginners who have never climbed before or have limited experience. Learn to belay using a Gri-gri and the universal and essential knots and communication to climb vertical terrain.
Movement Clinic- This clinic will explore basic movement techniques for face climbing, including weight transfer, efficiency, footwork and body positioning. Movement techniques for slabs, vertical faces and overhangs will also be covered.
Lead Climbing- Take the sharp end. Introduction to indoor sport leading clinic includes instruction on how to belay a leader, fall safely and clip bolts efficiently and effectively.
Rock Rescue- Learn the basics of outdoor personal rescue. This clinic will go through the necessary steps to tie off an injured climber so the belayer can seek additional help. Belay escapes, rappelling with an injured climber, and raising techniques will all be covered during this three week course.
Theme nights:
Ladies Night- All girls and women, especially those of us who aren't particularly "ladylike" are encouraged to attend. Ladies Night is a time for women to come in and climb together, and to get to know other women in the climbing community.
Mens Night- Boys just want to have fun too. Come on in and climb with the boys.
