Chic Choc Mountains, Québec

Go North for Spring Break! This extended trip takes place on the Gaspé Peninsula in eastern Québec. The Chic Choc mountains offer treeless slopes and peaks, abundant snow fall (average 12 feet of snow per year), and significant relief (3000'), all of which make for some of the best backcountry skiing east of the Rockies!
We will explore the backcountry by day and stay in a small cabin heated by a woodstove at night. Our daily trips will involve skinning up mountains to secluded bowls, glades, and couloirs where we will spend the rest of day cranking turns. This trip offers instruction in winter route finding and avalanche assessment, avalanche search and rescue, advanced telemark instruction, cold weather injury prevention, and group safety and risk management.
The trip will culminate with a day of free-heel skiing at Jay Peak, VT!

Dates: Spring Semester (see Master Calendar)
