Laurentian Memorial Walkway
The Laurentian Memorial Walkway, established in 2024 with the support of Jino L. '72 & Joanne Iadarola Masone '74, provides a meaningful way of honoring the lives of those with a special connection to St. Lawrence University. The walkway, which runs beside Gunnison Memorial Chapel, offers the opportunity to memorialize a Laurentian who walked the paths of campus, leaving their mark on our community and our hearts.
With a minimum gift of $5,000, a donor can dedicate a 8” x 24” granite memorial stone for an individual who has passed away. Those members of the Laurentian Community who served in the United States military will be recognized for their service in the armed forces.

Frequently Asked Questions
The walkway’s memorial stones feature three lines of text:
• Line 1 – Individual’s Name (standard)
• Line 2 – Affiliation with St. Lawrence (standard)
• Line 3 – Custom text per donor (limited character count)
• Line 3 – Donor name(s) (limited character count)
Upon receiving your gift, a University staff member will be in touch with a proposed plan for the stone’s text. They will work with you to ensure a smooth process, a consistent feel, and a meaningful end product. (Please note: there are character count limits we must adhere to.)
Gifts for the Laurentian Memorial Walkway will both support the University’s Memorial Scholarship, a fund that supports a deserving student in need of financial assistance to attend St. Lawrence, as well as ensure the walkway has the proper care and maintenance.
While we understand the desire to potentially direct a gift to a different fund, that is not possible at this time.

You are also welcome to call 888-758-4438, or transfer stock to make a gift. At this time, we are not accepting deferred gifts (i.e. planned gifts) for this project.
Donors can recognize one Laurentian (alumni, parent, student, faculty/staff, friend) who has passed away. We are unable to accommodate multiple names or group recognition on one stone.
An individual Laurentian can be recognized on up to four stones.
The Laurentian Memorial Walkway begins alongside Gunnison Memorial Chapel on the south side of the chapel (Owen D. Young Library side) and runs towards Hepburn Hall.
The Laurentian Memorial Walkway was created to provide the St. Lawrence Community a way to leave a lasting, named piece on campus for a loved one. It also showcases our community’s immense gratitude and respect to those who have served in the United States military, protecting our freedom both at home and abroad.
The walkway will begin in the summer of 2024.
While friends and family may pool resources, we’d ask that the group please make one gift of $5,000+. A reminder there are character count restrictions for the “Donated by” line that may require some creativity!
