St. Lawrence University Elects Four To Board Of Trustees


CANTON - Four people have been elected to St. Lawrence University's Board of Trustees, with terms that begin June 1, 2012.

Samantha Guerry, of Bethesda, MD, graduated from St. Lawrence in 1988 with a degree in English and philosophy. She holds an M.B.A. from Johns Hopkins University, with a concentration in marketing and is an entrepreneur and corporate marketing strategist. Guerry is the founder and director of the TurnFirst Foundation, a healthcare organization dedicated to providing information and support to patients newly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and the founder of Rose River Studio, where she designs silver jewelry and wearable art on commission.

Eric H. Hanson, of Burlington, VT, is president of Hanson & Doremus Investment Management and graduated from St. Lawrence in 1970, with a degree in government. In addition to his business, which he founded in 1995, Hanson is the board chairman of the Vermont Chinese School and is a member of the boards of the Humane Society of Chittenden County and the Vermont Council on World Affairs. He is a past-president of the board of the Nature Conservancy, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and the Baird Center for Children and Families.

David S. MacAllaster, of New York City and Southport, CT, has served as president of MacAllaster Pitfield Mackay Inc. since 1987 and is also the managing partner of MacAllaster Investment Partners L.P. A graduate of Dartmouth College with an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth, MacAllaster is the son of the late Archie F. MacAllaster, a University trustee from 1977-1999. In addition, his grandfather, Arthur S. Torrey, was chairman of the Board of Trustees from 1968-1978.

Michael Ranger, of New York City, is co-founder and senior managing director at Diamond Castle Holdings, which he co-founded in 2004, and a 1980 graduate of St. Lawrence, with a degree in government. Ranger previously served as a University trustee from 1993 through 2004. During that time, he was vice chair of the board (2001-2003), board secretary (1999-2001) and chair of the board's budget and finance committee. Ranger is also the chairman of the board of The Seeing Eye, Inc., and a member of the board of Morristown-Beard School.
