Writers Series Presents Author, Poet

St. Lawrence University’s Writer Series will continue its 2017-18 season with author Benjamin Landry as well as Sara Schaff, author and visiting assistant professor of English, at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, in the Sykes Common Room. The event is free and open to the public.
Landry is the author of the poetry collections Burn Lyrics, An Ocean Away, and Particle and Wave, the last of which was a finalist for the National Poetry Series. While completing his MFA in poetry at the University of Michigan, he received Hopwood Awards for poetry and short fiction as well as the Beauchamp Award for Fiction. He received a 2016 Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award for his work, which has appeared in venues such as American Poetry Review, Kenyon Review and The New Yorker. In addition to poetry, Landry has published creative nonfiction and criticism.
Schaff is the author of the story collection Say Something Nice About Me, and her fiction and nonfiction have appeared in Joyland, Literary Hub, Southern Humanities Review, Hobart, The Rumpus, and elsewhere. A graduate of Brown University and the University of Michigan, she has taught at Oberlin College and the University of Michigan as well as in China, Colombia and Northern Ireland, where she also studied storytelling. She currently teaches fiction, creative writing and playwriting at St. Lawrence University.
