Writers Series Begins Sept. 12 with Pico Iyer
CANTON —St. Lawrence University’s Writers Series kicks off the new academic year with a talk by author and essayist Pico Iyer.
Iyer has been a longtime essayist for Time magazine and is a frequent contributor to The New York Times, The New York Review of Books, Harper’s Magazine and dozens of other worldwide magazines.
Iyer is the author of several books including Video Night in Kathmandu and The Man Within My Head. He is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and is the author of numerous film-scripts as well as Leonard Cohen’s liner-notes. Born in Oxford, England, Iyer studied at Eton College, the University of Oxford and Harvard University. He is a Distinguished Presidential Fellow at Chapman University. Raised between England and California, Iyer has been living in rural Japan for the last 25 years.
The event will take place Thursday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. in the Sykes Common Room located in Sykes Residence Hall on Park Street across from the Brewer Bookstore. The event is free and open to the public.
Upcoming writers in the series this fall semester include Sven Birkerts on Thursday, Oct. 3, and Elizabeth Stuckey-French and Ned Stuckey-French on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
